Islamabad, May 09, 2023 (PPI-OT): A three-member delegation from Pakistan is attending the inaugural session of the 27th Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC), which is being held in Mauritius from May 8th to 12th, 2023. The delegation is being led by Mr. Hassan Mehmood Yousuf Zai, who is the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs in Pakistan.
The IOTC is an intergovernmental organization that manages the tuna and tuna-like species in the Indian Ocean. The organization is responsible for ensuring the sustainable use of these resources and promoting cooperation among its member states.
The IOTC holds regular sessions to discuss issues related to the management of these resources, and the 27th session is being held in Mauritius.
