Mortar Shell Explosion Injures Man in IIOJK’s Samba District


Jammu, A mortar shell explosion in the Samba district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir resulted in critical injuries to a local man, highlighting the lingering dangers of unexploded ordnance in the region.



According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred in Chandli village, where Chinaar Singh found and accidentally triggered an old mortar shell, leading to severe injuries. He has since been transferred to Medical College Jammu for urgent medical attention.



The presence of unexploded shells in civilian areas, especially those near the Line of Control, remains a perilous issue, with past occurrences resulting in both injuries and fatalities. These explosive remnants of conflict pose ongoing risks to local populations.



In a related note, the press release also reported on two tragic road accidents in the region. In Udhampur district, near Garnai on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, and in the Achabal area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad district, four individuals lost their lives. The deceased were identified as Seda Begum, Shahzad Hussain, Mubashir Hussain, and Vimal Kumar.
