Tehran: The mortal remains of 28 Pakistani pilgrims who died in a bus accident in Yazd were returned to Pakistan on a special flight commissioned by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The remains, along with 15 injured survivors discharged from the hospital, were repatriated under high-level diplomatic gestures between Iran and Pakistan.

According to Press Information Department, the funeral ceremony in Yazd saw Ayatullah Naseri, Representative of the Supreme Leader in Yazd and Imam Juma Yazd, Governor Yazd H.E Mehran Fatemi, Deputy Governor H.E Abdulhoseini, along with Mudassir Tipu, Ambassador of Pakistan in Tehran, and officials from the Embassy of Pakistan. They paid homage to the deceased, reflecting deep bilateral ties and shared grief over the tragedy. Governor Yazd offered condolences to the families of the victims and prayers for the deceased, underscoring the somber occasion.

Ambassador Tipu expressed gratitude towards the Iranian government for their support and the expedited repatriation process. The gesture of sending a special plane highlights the proactive measures taken by the Pakistani government following the tragedy.
