Mororo Town Triumphs Over Mominabad Town in Metropolitan Football Cup 2024


Karachi: Mororo Town emerged victorious against Mominabad Town with a score of six goals to four in match number 36 of the Metropolitan Football Cup 2024, held at Madhu Ground on Tuesday. The tournament is organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Karachi. Shahzeb scored three goals for Mominabad Town, while Farooq Iqbal led Mororo Town with four goals.



According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the tournament features 24 teams, including 23 town administration teams and one team from KMC. In another match at KMC Football Stadium, Maripur Town defeated North Karachi Town four to zero, with goals from Asif, Shaukat, Dilshad, and Asif Sr. During the match, Maripur Town’s Usman and M Ali were shown yellow cards, while Shahryar of North Karachi Town received a red card.



In the tournament’s 21st match, Lyari Town beat Chinesar Town by five goals to three, with Maqbool scoring two goals for Lyari Town. Anas Abbas of Chinesar Town received yellow cards in the 22nd and 48th minutes. The KMC Metropolitan Cup Football Tournament 2024 highlights individual achievements, with Furqan Umar of Gadap Town leading with seven goals, Yasir Rehman of Korangi Town scoring five, and Muzamil of Gadap Town scoring four.



The tournament’s inaugural match saw Jinnah Town lose to Saddar Town by four goals to two. Shah Faisal Town received a walkover victory against Maripur Town, earning three goals and three points. Additional matches included KMC’s two-nil victory over Morromere Bar, Chinesar Town’s two-nil win against Model Colony Town, and Gadap Town’s three-to-one victory over Gulshan Town.



The tournament promises cash prizes of 10 lakh rupees for the first place, 5 lakh rupees for the second, and 2.5 lakh rupees for the third. Semi-finals and finals will be played under floodlights, with FIFA-approved referees and technical staff ensuring adherence to international standards. The event aims to deliver a high-quality experience for football fans, with ex-footballers and experts consulted throughout the process. Participating teams have been provided with kits for the tournament.
