Islamabad, December 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):In an exclusive meeting with Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani at the Parliament House, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi informed that the government has chalked out a comprehensive strategy under the umbrella of National Security Policy to engage all political leadership of the country to develop consensus between the political leadership on national issues.
While briefing the Chairman Senate, minister informed that a nationwide dialogue and discussion would be conducted to develop consensus on respect for national institutions. He said that other areas can also be included in the overall list to debate and discuss them for tangible solutions and harmony. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs gave a detailed overview and rationale behind the initiative.
He said that parliament is the institution where the will of the people resides. Minister observed that Chairman Senate, as custodian of the Upper House of the Parliament, can play a significant role in the process. The Minister said that we are identifying the stakeholders and striving towards developing a National Charter of Consensus.
Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani welcomed the initiative. He said that there is need to work in unison and with one voice to counter the negative narratives against Pakistan’s overall socio-economic growth, key national interests and territorial integrity. He said that consultative sessions with people from different shades of opinion, political affiliations, opinion makers and others will provide an opportunity to take all along.
He said that we are at an important juncture of our history and there is dire need to develop a national consensus around key issues. “Peaceful co-existence, harmony and national cohesion are direly needed to make the country’s growth more rapid and robust” Chairman Senate said this while assuring his cooperation to the minister. He said that this is a national cause and all out support will be extended to achieve the desired objectives. Chairman Senate hoped that this effort will provide direction and clarity of vision to the public and will help in ensuring wellbeing, security, dignity and prosperity of our people.
