Monsoon Wreaks Havoc Across Pakistan, Claiming 40 Lives

Islamabad: The relentless monsoon season has continued to unleash severe weather across Pakistan, particularly affecting the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where recent incidents have resulted in nine deaths and 22 injuries in the last 24 hours.

According to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan, as of July 14, the death toll for this monsoon season has reached 40. The casualties include 24 people in Punjab, seven in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six in Sindh, and two in Balochistan, all attributed to flash floods and related severe weather events.

The NDMA forecasts that the next 24 hours will bring moderate to locally heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms across several regions, including parts of Kashmir, Balochistan, Punjab, the Pothohar region, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan. From July 15-16, similar conditions are expected to affect areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, South Punjab, Northeast Balochistan, East Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, posing continued risks of flooding and disruptions.
