Monsoon Rains to Continue Across Pakistan with Occasional Gaps

Islamabad: The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Islamabad predicts a continuation of moderate monsoon currents affecting various regions of Pakistan from July 16 to July 21. The weather pattern will bring widespread rain and thunderstorms, particularly impacting areas in Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, and parts of Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre, the anticipated weather will significantly impact daily routines and may cause urban flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas. The rains are expected to start in the evening or night of July 16 in Kashmir and will affect Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shortly thereafter. Balochistan and Sindh will experience similar conditions from July 17, with the peak of the rainy weather forecasted for July 18 and 19 across most affected areas.

The monsoon rains are likely to increase water inflows in local streams and nullahs, particularly in the Murree, Galliyat, Manshera, Kohistan, and Kashmir regions, which could lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas of Punjab and lower Sindh. The weather center has also warned of potential landslides in the hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, which could disrupt road travel. Additionally, heavy downpours, windstorms, and lightning could pose risks to weak structures and daily activities.

Farmers and travelers are advised to plan accordingly and remain cautious during this period. The authorities are urged to stay alert and prepared to manage any emergency situations arising from the severe weather conditions.
