Monsoon Rains Expected Across Multiple Regions in Pakistan from September 2-5, 2024

Islamabad: Pakistan is set to experience moderate monsoon rainfall across several regions from September 2 to September 5, 2024, as forecasted by the National Emergencies Operation Center. Notable areas anticipated to receive these rains include Northeastern Punjab, Potohar region, major cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Malakand and Hazara divisions, including Peshawar. Additionally, areas in Balochistan like Kalat division, Quetta, Pashin, and the foothills of Kirther and Suleiman range, along with Northern Sindh, are also expected to witness similar weather conditions.

According to Press Information Department, the moderate rains, although essential for the region, could lead to localized flooding and pose threats such as the destabilization of loose structures including billboards, electrical poles, solar panels, and hoardings. The general public is advised to avoid seaside and beach areas during this period and to stay updated with weather conditions by using the newly launched Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application, available on both Google Play Store and iOS App Store. This application is designed to provide timely alerts, advisories, and guidelines to enhance public safety.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued directives to all relevant departments to prepare and take necessary precautions to mitigate potential adverse effects, urging residents to remain vigilant and adhere to guidance from local authorities during the monsoon period.
