Modi regime lays military siege around Syed Ali Gilani’s grave

Srinagar, September 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops and police personnel have laid a siege around the grave of the iconic Kashmiri freedom leader, Syed Ali Gilani fearing that people may build a monument at the site in recognition of the Veteran leader’s services for the Kashmir cause.

Indian officials said the move is aimed at preventing people from gathering around the grave and building a monument there. Strict restrictions have been imposed in the name of security arrangements in all the lanes leading to the place where the veteran Hurriyat leader was laid to rest on September 2.

Indian police said nearly three dozen police and paramilitary vehicles have been deployed in a radius of 500-metre around the grave of the martyred leader to keep a close watch, as the authorities fear that the people may try to build a shrine or a memorial around it. Syed Ali Gilani was buried in the lawns of Jamia Masjid, located on the airport road in Hyderpora area on the outskirts of Srinagar, which is near his residence in the Rehmatabad area of the city.

Indian forces have also placed a mine protected vehicle (MPV) in one of the lanes leading to the graveyard, while the grave had also been blocked by a green shade net on one of the walls. Officials said complete security drill had been placed there as the troopers had been asked not to allow anybody to go near the grave or take pictures from a distance.

A senior government official said, “The grave has been buried is being secured by Indian forces. They will continue to remain deployed along with the police to avoid any law and order situation in the coming days.”
