Modi Government Allegedly Devises Strategy in Wake of Election Concerns

Srinagar, In light of a recent election setback in the Kargil Hill Council elections and perceived waning popularity of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Modi-led Indian government is alleged to have strategized a method to ensure victory in forthcoming elections in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmir Media Service reports suggest that the plan, allegedly supervised by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, involves the arrest of Kashmiri youth on purported false charges. Their subsequent transfer to jails outside Kashmir, as in the cases of Aadil Siraj Zagar, Dawood Fayaz Zargar, and Urooj, is believed to be part of this strategy.

Statements from the Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum have raised concerns over these transfers, asserting that many detainees have not been presented before courts or had legal proceedings initiated. Meanwhile, leaders from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference have criticized the Modi government, accusing it of projecting a façade of peace and stability in the region.

Furthermore, Shakeel Ahmed Andrabi from the Students Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party emphasized that repressive measures against Kashmiri leaders and groups would not deter the aspiration for freedom.

In a related event, Hindutva groups reportedly pressured an institute in Pune to withdraw a media award for Kashmiri journalist Safina Nabi, highlighting the challenges Kashmiri journalists face. This information was sourced from the Kashmir Media Service.
