Moderate Earthquake Shakes Chenab Valley in Jammu Region

Jammu: A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Chenab valley, specifically the Gundoh area of Doda district in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, causing concern among local residents.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the quake occurred early in the morning and was brief yet intense enough to be felt strongly by the inhabitants. A resident from Doda shared with the media that such moderate earthquakes are rare in their area, but this particular tremor was powerful enough to wake people and prevent them from exiting their homes safely.

The Chenab valley has experienced a number of earthquakes over recent years, prompting analysis from experts who suggest that these moderate tremors help in releasing geological pressure, thereby potentially reducing the likelihood of a more severe earthquake.

Initial reports indicate that despite the intensity of the earthquake, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage to property in the affected areas.
