Mirwaiz Urges Dialogue to Resolve Kashmir Dispute for Regional Peace

Srinagar, Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, emphasized the necessity of resolving the Kashmir dispute through dialogue to achieve lasting peace in the region. He expressed these views during a congregational gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq lamented his repeated detentions and the ongoing policy of harassment, stating that the local population of Jammu and Kashmir should have the foremost right to employment in their land without any pretext for denial. He highlighted the frequent detentions he faced, including being placed under house arrest since May 3, disrupting his ability to lead prayers at the mosque and pay respects at Mazar-e-Shuhada in Eidgah on significant martyrdom anniversaries. Mirwaiz expressed hope that future leadership would adopt a realistic and humane approach to the Kashmir issue.

Additionally, Mirwaiz expressed sorrow over a recent tragic road accident in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district, which resulted in the deaths of 22 pilgrims and injuries to many others.
