Srinagar: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has been named among the 500 most influential Muslim personalities globally for 2025 by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (RISSC) based in Jordan. This marks the 11th consecutive year that Mirwaiz has been featured in the prestigious “Muslim500” list.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz’s inclusion in the list by RISSC, Jordan, underscores his significant role in advocating for the rights and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. RISSC highlighted his efforts in promoting dialogue between India and Pakistan to address and realize the aspirations of the Kashmiri populace. His four-year-long house arrest and subsequent release in September were notably mentioned, with his return to Jamia Masjid described as eliciting a strong emotional response among his followers.
The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre, an independent research entity, operates under the auspices of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought. This international Islamic non-governmental institute is headquartered in Amman, Jordan.
