Srinagar: Amidst the sweltering heat, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has openly criticized the authorities of occupied Jammu and Kashmir for their negligence in managing the power supply.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a speech at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Mirwaiz highlighted the persistent issues with power shortages that plagued the region during the winter. He expressed frustration over the government’s apparent indifference to providing essential services such as water and electricity, especially after recent tariff hikes. He lamented the government’s failure to fulfill its responsibilities.
Further, Mirwaiz urged the local Muslim community to reflect on their actions, pondering whether these might be displeasing to Allah and thus contributing to their hardships. He connected these trials to the severe conditions the people have faced over the past year. With the approach of the month of Muharram, he emphasized the administration’s duty to ensure adequate provision of electricity, water, and other necessities.
