Srinagar, In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, remains under house arrest, barred from offering Juma prayers for the eleventh consecutive week. The restriction, imposed by the local authorities, has continued to prevent Mirwaiz from performing essential religious obligations, including leading Friday prayers.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar released a statement expressing their deep resentment and concern over the ongoing detention of their chief, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The statement highlighted that no official reason has been provided by the authorities for this prolonged restriction.
The continuous detention of Mirwaiz on successive Fridays has become a source of serious concern for both the Anjuman Auqaf and the local community. The statement emphasized the emotional and sentimental impact on the people, who gather in large numbers at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar, only to be met with either the mosque’s closure or the absence of their revered leader. The disappointment of the attendees has been noted as a significant aspect of the ongoing situation.
