Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Calls for Stronger Adherence to Islamic Teachings in Kashmir

Srinagar: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has urged the residents of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen their commitment to Islamic teachings to lead more virtuous lives.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during the congregational Friday prayers at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz voiced his concerns over the rising influence of un-Islamic practices such as black magic and superstition in the region. He criticized these practices as remnants of the Jahiliyah period, which are in direct conflict with Islamic principles.

Mirwaiz emphasized the importance of maintaining faith in Allah and following the Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) traditions to achieve righteousness. He also addressed the need for community support for families devastated by recent fires in Kishtwar and Gurez, which resulted in the destruction of over 100 homes, including a mosque. Highlighting the collective responsibility to assist those affected, he praised the efforts of relief organizations like Dar-ul-Khair Mirwaiz Manzil and called for generous public contributions to support the ongoing aid initiatives.
