Srinagar: Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has announced plans to regroup and rethink Hurriyat’s strategies in pursuit of a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute.

According to Kashmir Media Service, his remarks were made during the inauguration of a new business venture in the Gojwara area of old Srinagar. During the event, Mirwaiz highlighted the importance of a recent meeting of the Hurriyat Conference, the first in five years, which saw the reunion of many members, though many remain incarcerated.

The APHC leader made a clear distinction between civic issues, such as road infrastructure, drinking water, and electricity, and the broader political problem that requires a peaceful resolution. Recalling his previous statement from the pulpit of Jamia Masjid during last Friday’s prayers, Mirwaiz emphasized that dialogue is the only viable path to resolving these issues. “We have been repeatedly stating that issues can only be resolved through talks,” he affirmed.

He expressed optimism about the Hurriyat Conference’s gradual regrouping and its renewed focus on advancing dialogue for a lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute. He reiterated that the political dimensions of the Kashmir problem must be addressed through fair and peaceful negotiations.
