Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has criticized the Lieutenant Governor’s decision to dismiss government employees in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a post on X, condemned the dismissals, stating that two more government employees were terminated without any legal recourse. He expressed concern that families have been rendered destitute before the onset of harsh winters and described the situation as reflecting an authoritarian mindset in the region.
Mirwaiz’s statement followed the removal of two government employees by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who cited alleged terror connections as the reason for their dismissal. The employees were identified as Abdul Rehman Naika, a pharmacist, and Zahir Abbas, a teacher.
Mirwaiz urged the elected administration to address the issue urgently, calling for the reinstatement of all terminated employees. The dismissals were carried out under Article 311 (2) (c) of the Indian Constitution, a provision that has been invoked to terminate dozens of government employees in recent years.
