Srinagar, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has extended an invitation to Kashmiri Pandits to return to their ancestral lands. This appeal was made during his address at the Friday congregation at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in his speech, Mirwaiz celebrated the Mela Kheer Bhawani festival, a significant event for the Kashmiri Pandit community, and emphasized reconciliation and the restoration of communal bonds. His call aims to heal the divisions and encourage the return of Pandits who had left the valley amidst escalating conflicts.
Mirwaiz’s message highlighted the importance of coexistence and shared cultural heritage in Kashmir. He expressed concern over recent governmental actions, such as the dismissal of employees, which he believes exacerbate mistrust and deepen societal divisions. His heartfelt plea reflects a desire to mend the social fabric and foster a spirit of unity among all Kashmiri communities.
