Ministry of Human Rights Launches 16 Days of Activism to Combat Violence Against Women


Islamabad: Addressing a gathering at the Pakistan National Council of Arts, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Human Rights, Mrs. Saba Sadiq, emphasized the necessity of eradicating gender-based violence during the inauguration of the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women and Girls.



According to Press Information Department, Mrs. Sadiq highlighted Pakistan’s legal and policy measures aimed at addressing violence against women, such as the Anti-Harassment Act, enforcement of women’s property rights, and the availability of helplines and shelters. She acknowledged ongoing challenges posed by cultural barriers but pointed to initiatives promoting economic and social empowerment of women. Mrs. Sadiq called for collaboration among federal and provincial governments, NGOs, and international organizations to strive for a society free from fear and violence. She reaffirmed the nation’s dedication to gender equality, urging collective efforts to ensure justice, dignity, and equality for all.
