Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar detailed the government’s ongoing efforts to consult broadly on proposed constitutional amendments designed to improve Pakistan’s judicial system. Speaking to media representatives in Islamabad this evening, Tarar outlined the inclusive and comprehensive nature of the consultation process involving various political entities.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the government, under Tarar’s stewardship, is engaging coalition parties actively, while Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Chief of JUI-F, is facilitating discussions with opposition parties to ensure consensus on every clause of the proposed amendments. The process has seen active participation from major parties like the PML-N and the PPP, which have conducted several meetings with JUI-F leadership to refine the amendments.

Tarar emphasized the complexity and significance of amending the constitution, noting that such processes are inherently time-consuming due to the need for extensive consultations. He reassured that legal experts from all parties are involved in enhancing the draft amendments to ensure they meet the highest standards of legal and public benefit.

The Minister asserted that the intended amendments aim to substantially improve the judicial system, thereby positively impacting the life of every Pakistani. He highlighted the parliament’s authority and responsibility to amend the constitution and other laws, stressing that it is incumbent upon lawmakers to pursue legislation that benefits the public.
