Minister Tarar Asserts No Disturbance to National Peace Amid PTI Protests

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, declared that no individual or group will be permitted to disrupt national peace, following recent protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Tarar announced the formation of an anti-riot force and assured that swift legal action would be taken against those arrested for violent activities.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Information Minister criticized PTI for allegedly spreading misinformation by using outdated and AI-generated images on social media. He noted that hospitals like PIMS and Polyclinic have reported no casualties, challenging PTI’s claims of fatalities during the protests. A verification cell has been established to confirm the authenticity of shared footage.

Tarar accused the protesters of employing weapons against security forces and causing damage to public property. He asserted that the minimal turnout at the protests indicates a lack of public support for PTI’s agenda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the broader nation.

Highlighting economic progress, Tarar stated that the PTI’s actions are unlikely to hinder the country’s economic growth. He cited record levels in the stock market, remittances surpassing $8.8 billion, a decrease in inflation to 6.9 percent, and foreign exchange reserves reaching $11 billion. Additionally, he noted that the reopening of European routes for Pakistan International Airlines is expected to boost revenue and aid in its privatization efforts.
