SKARDU: Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed immediate restoration efforts for a flood-damaged bridge on the Skardu-Gilgit Road. The directive aims to alleviate challenges faced by stranded commuters and local residents in the area.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister conducted an emergency inspection of the damaged infrastructure near Sassi Haramosh Ansar Camp. During the visit, he ordered the deployment of additional heavy machinery and instructed operational staff to expedite repair work.
Abdul Aleem Khan acknowledged the efforts of the National Highway Authority and the Frontier Works Organisation, noting their continuous work under demanding conditions. He expressed confidence that the road would be fully operational soon. The Minister was accompanied by the NHA Chairman, the Communications Secretary, the Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Commissioner of Gilgit during the inspection.
