Islamabad: The Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, has highlighted the escalating challenges of online safety, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children and young people, during a meeting with Ms. Miranda Sissions, the Global Human Rights Policy Lead for Meta. The meeting, also attended by Meta Public Policy Head in Pakistan Dania Mukhtar, focused on mutual interests concerning digital safety.
According to Press Information Department, Ms. Shaza Fatima stressed that in the current digital age, online threats are on the rise, posing significant risks to Internet users. She reiterated the need for joint efforts to tackle these online threats effectively. The Minister assured that the current government is dedicated to strengthening cybersecurity measures and enhancing the digital ecosystem across the nation, emphasizing the importance of quality content on social media platforms.
The discussion also saw participation from Member IT Syed Junaid Imam and Member International Coordination Imad Memon, indicating a collaborative approach to addressing digital safety concerns.
