Minister of State for Finance Engages Business Leaders on Tax Reforms


Islamabad: Minister of State for Finance and Railways, Bilal Azhar Kayani, held a significant meeting with business representatives from Multan and Faislabad to deliberate on the upcoming federal budget and potential taxation reforms. This meeting, held at the Finance Division, forms part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Finance, Tax Policy Office, and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to engage with traders.



According to Press Information Department, the Minister highlighted the crucial role of Multan, Faislabad, and Bahawalpur in Pakistan’s export economy, aiming to gather valuable insights from the trading community to shape a more efficient and equitable taxation system. He emphasized the government’s objective of broadening the tax base while simplifying compliance processes to facilitate business operations.



The traders, led by Mr. Kashif of the All Pakistan Trader Association, discussed concerns related to taxation, including the implementation of Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and the need for streamlined tax procedures. The dialogue underscored the necessity of transparency and trust between taxpayers and authorities. Business leaders expressed their approval of the government’s inclusive approach in budget preparations.



Minister Kayani assured attendees of the government’s dedication to addressing the business community’s concerns, emphasizing that reforms will be crafted in close collaboration with stakeholders. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to fostering ongoing dialogue to support economic growth and enhanced tax compliance.



The session was attended by key figures from Faislabad and Multan, including Khuwaja Shahid Razzaq and Sheikh Javaid Akhtar, among others, alongside senior FBR officials.
