Karachi: Minister of Maritime Affairs, Mr. Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, addressed a media briefing session at the Karachi Press Club today, where he outlined significant initiatives aimed at boosting Pakistan’s maritime sector. The minister announced the upcoming International Maritime Sustainability Exhibition and Conference (IMSEC) and discussed efforts to enhance the country’s shipping and ports infrastructure.
According to Press Information Department, the Minister shared several key updates during the session, focusing on initiatives designed to promote Pakistan’s maritime economy and improve trade and commerce. Among the notable developments is the inauguration of IMSEC, which is slated for September 12-14, 2024. This premier event aims to drive the maritime economy by fostering global and regional partnerships and facilitating investments.
IMSEC will feature an investor conference and an international exhibition, providing a platform for both Pakistani and international maritime communities to address critical industry issues and share insights to advance the sector. The event will also include sessions designed to encourage dialogue and cooperation among key industry leaders.
Responding to queries from the media, Mr. Sheikh elaborated on the government’s vision for the maritime sector and its strategies to overcome the challenges currently facing the industry.
