Islamabad: Minister for Energy, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, has reiterated the government’s dedication to instituting significant reforms in the power sector, aimed at addressing persistent challenges and ensuring financial stability.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a recent interview with a private news channel, Minister Leghari detailed the government’s reform initiatives and its energy strategy, which has been presented to the National Energy Administration of China. He highlighted ongoing discussions with Chinese financiers aimed at securing investments to bolster Pakistan’s power infrastructure.
A critical aspect of the proposed reforms includes transitioning electricity generation from imported to locally sourced coal, which Leghari anticipates will substantially reduce electricity costs per unit, benefiting the economy and consumers alike.
