Minister Leghari Advocates for Stronger Energy Ties with Chinese Firms at Belt and Road Conference


Qingdao, China: In a strategic move to bolster Pakistan’s energy sector, Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, engaged in pivotal discussions with top executives from Power China and Energy China at the Third Belt and Road Ministerial Conference. These discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and integrating new technologies into Pakistan’s power infrastructure.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Leghari met with Yao Huan, Vice-President of Power China, and Ni Zhen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Energy China, to discuss potential advancements in power dispatch and transmission systems. Reflecting on the recent visit of Premier Li Qiang to Pakistan, the minister expressed a keen interest in modernizing the nation’s energy systems to reduce inefficiencies and losses. Proposals included the establishment of a state-of-the-art research and development center in Pakistan, aiming to merge advanced technologies and best practices into the national energy framework.



The meetings also covered the future of energy cooperation under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with plans to diversify energy sources and incorporate cutting-edge technologies in power generation. Minister Leghari extended an invitation to both executives to visit Pakistan, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration for achieving sustainable energy solutions and strengthening bilateral ties.
