Karachi, During his visit to the Port Qasim Authority (PQA), Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh emphasized the critical role of the port in bolstering the national economy and outlined plans to enhance its operational capacity.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shaikh was briefed by the PQA chairman on the authority’s responsibilities and operational aspects. In a subsequent meeting with PQA officers, the Minister underscored the significance of PQA in the economic landscape of the country, elaborating on the development of industrial zones within PQA’s domain. These zones are designed to attract multinational companies to set up state-of-the-art industries, thereby propelling economic growth.
Further, the Minister detailed ongoing initiatives to augment trade, including the dredging of navigation channels and the upgrading of berths to accommodate larger vessels. These improvements aim to increase the port’s efficiency and capacity, reinforcing its role as a vital component of the country’s economic infrastructure.
Islamabad, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, emphasized the critical role of data availability in the contemporary digital landscape, asserting its significance in informed decision-making and enhancing service delivery. The minister’s remarks came during a meeting with Haroon Kanth, the Country Director of Teradata Global Consulting Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, where discussions revolved around mutual interests, database management, IT exports, and the telecom sector’s development.
According to Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Minister Shaza Fatima underlined the necessity of a stable and credible database for the better delivery of services and the capacity building of government organizations. She advocated for a close collaboration between Teradata and the Ministry of IT and Telecom to leverage data for national development.
Haroon Kanth reassured the minister of Teradata’s readiness to cooperate with the Pakistani government, indicating a future of productive partnership aimed at enhancing the country’s IT and telecommunication landscape.
