Minister Jam Kamal Khan Advocates for Stronger Australia-Pakistan Economic and Cultural Ties

Islamabad, During the Australia Day in Spring 2024 celebrations, Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, emphasized the importance of strengthening the longstanding friendship between Australia and Pakistan. The event, graced by his Excellency Mr. Neil Hawkins and other dignitaries, highlighted both countries’ mutual interests across political, economic, and sports sectors.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Khan pointed out the significant role of sports like cricket, squash, and hockey in fostering bilateral relations, praising Mr. Hawkins’ enthusiasm for hockey. In his speech, Minister Khan detailed the robust economic ties, noting Australia’s current trade surplus and calling for deeper cooperation, particularly in agriculture and education. He urged for reduced trade barriers and encouraged exploring new avenues such as agro-tech industries and fruit exports to enhance bilateral trade.

The minister also expressed gratitude towards the Pakistani diaspora in Australia, acknowledging their contributions and commending the Australian Government for supporting them through various educational scholarships. Minister Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to furthering the strong relationship with Australia, celebrating the shared values and aspirations of both nations.
