Minister Iqbal Engages UK Kashmiri Community, Unveils ‘Uraan Pakistan’ Vision

London: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, engaged with the Pakistani Kashmiri community in the United Kingdom, outlining the government’s ‘Uraan Pakistan’ development agenda. He emphasized the importance of reclaiming Pakistan’s civilizational standing through knowledge and technology, focusing on policy continuity and economic stability.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, Professor Iqbal highlighted the four fundamental principles of successful nations: law and order, policy consistency, economic stability, and continuous reforms. He noted that past initiatives, such as ‘Vision 2010’ and ‘Vision 2025’, were disrupted by instability. The ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative aims to adopt a long-term and sustainable approach to progress.

Professor Iqbal cited China’s 40 years of stable policies as a model for economic success. He stressed the need for Pakistan to protect its development plans from political disruptions. Under ‘Uraan Pakistan’, efforts include increasing exports to $100 billion by 2029 and promoting advanced technology to address climate change.

Initiatives are underway to boost female workforce participation by 50% and equip youth with digital skills, with the goal of transforming Pakistan into a modern, self-sufficient economy. The minister urged overseas Pakistanis to pursue higher education, as their achievements are crucial for the country’s growth.

The government is developing a strategy to engage overseas Pakistanis in national development through digital platforms. Increasing exports is seen as a means to create employment, empower women, and enhance resilience to climate challenges. The ‘Uraan Pakistan’ vision aims to transform the nation into an export-driven, technology-enabled, and climate-resilient society. The government is committed to mobilizing global partnerships and local resources for sustainable development, with overseas Pakistanis playing a pivotal role.
