Minister Hussain Advocates for Enhanced Skills Training Alongside Higher Education


Islamabad: At a ceremony unveiling new commemorative postage stamps for the golden jubilee of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Minister for Industries, Production, and National Food Security, Rana Tanveer Hussain, emphasized the importance of integrating skill education and vocational training with higher education initiatives. He addressed the need for balanced educational development to boost economic growth and enhance social prosperity.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Hussain highlighted the role of skill training in enabling students to secure dignified employment and called for efforts to include 2.5 million out-of-school children in the educational network. He praised AIOU’s contributions to education in Pakistan, noting its role in the national education emergency declared by the Prime Minister.



The event also featured remarks from AIOU officials who detailed plans to leverage the university’s network to educate 5 million children over the next five years. Additionally, the collaboration between AIOU and Pakistan Post was celebrated, marking the issuance of 100,000 special stamps commemorating the university’s 50th anniversary.
