Islamabad, July 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Mr. Sajid Hussain Turi on Thursday visited Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), Lahore on Thursday. During visit, senior officers of EOBI briefed the minister in details regarding various projects.
The minister was informed that the region of EOBI is comprised of Sahiwal to Rahim Yar Khan where 14 regional and 7 field officers are working. The officers said that a total number of insured persons were 1092300 while total active employees are 34263 and there are 10339 non-actives. They also informed the minister regarding deficiency of staff due to which work burden were on the existing staff and officers.
The minister assured to initiate process for the induction of required staff and officers. He said that facilitation centre and one window operation would be established in the region to further improve the working and mobilize services at ground level.
He said that there was also need to create awareness among the pensioners. He said that currently there were 650000 pensioners. Federal Minister Sajid Turi expressed that he was directed by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to resolve the issues pertaining to old age pensioners on priority basis. He said that he is well aware of the issue of old age pensioners and directed concerned officers to prepare briefing on the issue and way out to bring an end to their problems.
He said that Regional Head conference would be convened after Muharramul Haram wherein overall issues will be discussed in details. Federal Minister Sajid Hussain Turi said that his ministry would continue to take initiatives for the welfare of old age pensioners. He said that PPP represents the working and labour class of the country and their welfare is at the top of its Manifesto. Later, the minister also distributed appreciation certificates among the officers for their best performances.
