Minister for Information Emphasizes Parliamentary Sovereignty in Pakistan

Islamabad: The exclusive right to legislate in Pakistan belongs to the Parliament, asserted Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar in a recent televised message. Highlighting the constitutional provisions, Tarar emphasized the supreme status of Parliament as the principal legislative body and called for the preservation of its sovereignty and supremacy.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Minister praised Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq for his efforts in defending parliamentary sovereignty and addressing the concerns of legislators. Tarar also supported the Speaker’s position on the matter of independent candidates returned in elections, as outlined in a correspondence to the Election Commission of Pakistan. He reiterated his commitment to continue supporting the role of Parliament as the key institution in the legislative process.
