Minister for Information Advocates for Evidence-Based Journalism, Announces Startup Fund


Islamabad, In a significant move to uphold media freedom and journalistic integrity, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to media freedom, which he described as an inalienable fundamental right.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, in his conversation with Faisal Zahid Malik, Chairman of the Pakistan Observer, highlighted the pivotal role journalists have played in the country’s development and stability. He stressed the need for the media to maintain its unbiased stance, focusing on delivering evidence-based and authentic information to the public.



The Minister underlined the government’s efforts to support journalists through training and technical assistance, recognizing their crucial role in informing and educating the electorate, especially during election coverage. He asserted that the media serves as a bridge between candidates and voters, shaping public opinion through responsible news coverage and analysis.



In a related development, while addressing a conference on civic issues in Islamabad, Murtaza Solangi announced the launch of Pakistan’s first startup fund, valued at two billion rupees, aimed at fostering growth in the IT sector. This initiative marks a significant step towards bolstering technological innovation and entrepreneurship in the country.
