Islamabad, Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, today praised Pak Suzuki for its crucial role in the development of Pakistan’s local automotive vending industry and its significant contributions to job creation. The commendation came during a meeting with a Japanese delegation led by Kenichi Ayukawa, Global Vice President of Suzuki Motor Corporation.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the meeting, Minister Hussain highlighted the auto industry as a key sector for Pakistan’s economy, noting its role in employment, economic growth, technology transfer, and industrial development. He emphasized the government’s support for the localization of the automotive industry through tax breaks and other incentives, along with investment in research and development.
The minister also detailed the government’s commitment to creating a business environment that fosters the growth and sustainability of the automotive industry in Pakistan. He informed the delegation about the incentives being provided for new technologies, including Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Hybrids, such as duty-free imports of plant and machinery for setting up EV manufacturing plants. Hussain announced that forty-three companies have recently been issued certificates to manufacture two and three-wheeler electric vehicles locally.
On his part, Global Vice President Ayukawa shared Suzuki’s longstanding commitment to manufacturing in Pakistan and noted the recent inauguration of exports of the Suzuki Swift and GS-150 motorcycle as a significant step towards positioning Pakistan as a global player in the automobile industry.
