Minister Calls on Media to Address Pakistan’s Economic Challenges

Islamabad: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, has urged the media to assume an active role in addressing critical national challenges and promoting public awareness. He emphasized that media coverage is vital in shaping national priorities and ensuring institutional accountability.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister, speaking at an event in Islamabad, cautioned that Pakistan’s economic sovereignty might be jeopardized without a substantial increase in exports. He proposed a target to elevate the country’s exports to $100 billion by 2035, aiming to reduce dependence on the International Monetary Fund and external financing.

Professor Iqbal highlighted the Ministry of Planning’s introduction of various transparency measures, underscoring the importance of independent media scrutiny. He stressed the necessity of integrating development-related issues into mainstream public discourse to expedite Pakistan’s progress and development.
