Minister Attaullah Tarar Initiates Sweeping Reforms at Pakistan Television

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has announced a significant reform agenda for Pakistan Television (PTV), aiming to boost transparency and professionalism within the national broadcaster.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the overhaul includes the termination of 25 underperforming shows and the introduction of a new policy designed to foster a culture of honesty, professional integrity, and critical engagement. The minister’s plan, dubbed “Operation Clean Up,” is set to address longstanding issues such as bribery, incompetence, and the spread of misinformation within the organization.

The reforms also involve a strategic shift in personnel, with the recruitment of professional anchors and producers to elevate the quality of PTV’s programming. Moreover, Tarar has warned of firm actions against those who attempt to undermine these efforts through negative social media campaigns.

This initiative represents a significant pivot towards revitalizing Pakistan’s state broadcasting service, aligning it more closely with international standards of media operation.
