Minister Amir Muqam Calls for UN Action on Kashmir Dispute

Islamabad: Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam has urged the United Nations to actively enforce its resolutions on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and to address India’s alleged violations of international laws regarding the region.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a press conference in Islamabad, which included Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders, Minister Muqam highlighted the historical context of the dispute, noting that Indian forces took control of Jammu and Kashmir on October 27, 1947, without legal justification. He referenced several UN Security Council Resolutions that support the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring Pakistan’s continued advocacy for this cause.

Minister Muqam also announced that Pakistan would observe Kashmir Black Day to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people and remind the international community of the ongoing situation. He detailed plans for a rally in the federal capital to express solidarity with the residents of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled for the following morning.
