Minister Ahsan Iqbal Touts Positive Economic Trends Ahead of SCO Summit

Islamabad: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal highlighted Pakistan’s improving economic indicators and the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting as significant achievements for the country. The SCO summit, scheduled for the 15th and 16th of this month, will feature the first visit by China’s Premier Li Qiang to Pakistan in over a decade.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, “During a news conference, Minister Iqbal underscored the importance of the upcoming SCO summit and the bilateral meetings expected between the Chinese Premier and Pakistani officials.” He expressed optimism about the positive reception of Pakistan’s economic performance on the global stage.

However, the Minister also voiced concerns regarding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest at Islamabad’s D-Chowk on Tuesday, recalling past disruptions by the same party that impacted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project. He criticized PTI founder Imran Khan for fostering a political environment of division and chaos and called on the public to reject such disturbances.
