Lahore: At the 2nd National School of Public Policy Conference focused on food security, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the critical roles of youth empowerment and women’s involvement in the economy as essential drivers for Pakistan’s progress. The conference, which addressed various national challenges, particularly highlighted the urgent need to tackle food security amid growing population pressures and climate change.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Iqbal outlined the significance of sustained economic policies and political stability over the next five years to ensure national growth. He identified overpopulation and climate change as key obstacles to achieving food security in Pakistan, noting that the country must leverage its abundant resources through effective management and the adoption of modern technology.
A key initiative mentioned by Iqbal includes sending 1,000 agricultural scientists to China in the coming months to learn advanced cultivation techniques. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance Pakistan’s agricultural productivity through international cooperation and technology transfer, aiming to address the pressing challenge of food security more effectively.
