Minister Ahsan Iqbal Commits to Advancing a Digital Pakistan at the Digital Nation Summit

Islamabad: At today’s Digital Nation Summit, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal affirmed the government’s dedication to transforming Pakistan into a digitally advanced nation, emphasizing a vision to cultivate a digital economy, society, and citizenry.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Iqbal articulated that digital transformation stands as a crucial foundation for Pakistan’s future, aimed at generating employment, fostering innovation, and preserving national values amidst global shifts. The vision for a digital Pakistan revolves around the ‘5Es’ strategy, with a focus on ‘e-Pakistan’ to convert the country into a knowledge-based economy through comprehensive digitalization.

The Minister outlined the rapid expansion of Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, the construction of information highways to enhance data access nationwide, and prioritized government initiatives on digital education and vocational training. Additionally, efforts are being directed towards establishing a robust cyber security framework to protect citizens, enterprises, and government entities from evolving digital threats.

Minister of State for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja also spoke at the summit, expressing optimism regarding the growth in IT-related exports and detailing the government’s proactive measures to boost the sector further. She highlighted policy efforts designed to create a supportive ecosystem for businesses to flourish within this new digital landscape.
