Minister Ahsan Iqbal Cites Stock Market Surge as Sign of Investor Confidence in Pakistan


Islamabad, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal credited the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects initiated in 2013 with setting Pakistan on a path of sustainable growth and development. He highlighted the recent surge in the country’s stock exchange as a clear indicator of local investor confidence in the government’s economic policies.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a recent interview, Minister Iqbal reflected on the transformative impact of China’s decision to invest $25 billion in Pakistan during a period marked by significant challenges, including extensive power shortages and security issues. He praised China’s commitment to Pakistan during those difficult times and its ongoing contributions to the country’s infrastructure and economic stability.



Minister Iqbal also addressed the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan, emphasizing the government’s commitment to their safety. He noted that special security units, along with local law enforcement agencies, are dedicated to ensuring the well-being of all Chinese personnel involved in various projects across Pakistan.
