Minister Ahsan Iqbal Advocates for Private Sector Role to Boost Planning Commission Efficiency


Islamabad: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has advocated for the increased involvement of the private sector to enhance the effectiveness of the Planning Commission, which he believes will aid in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy. This statement was made during his chairmanship at the inaugural meeting of the Planning Commission’s Policy Board.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the establishment of the Policy Board aims to increase transparency and refine the economic planning processes of the country through collaboration with private sector and corporate leaders. Minister Iqbal emphasized the critical role the board members will play in overseeing financial operations and conducting audits within the Planning Commission.



The Minister outlined that the Policy Board is tasked with developing strategic frameworks and drafting plans spanning short to long-term objectives. He marked the formation of this board as a significant advancement towards achieving sustainable development goals within the national economic framework.



Additionally, Minister Iqbal highlighted the government’s commitment to the 5Es Framework, the 13th Five-Year Plan, and Vision 2030, underscoring the Policy Board’s crucial role in these initiatives. He concluded by urging board members to actively contribute their insights to further enhance the functionalities of the Planning Commission.
