Srinagar, Ongoing military operations, including cordon and search operations (CASOs) and house raids, are severely disrupting daily life in various districts of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). These operations are part of a broader security crackdown amid the ongoing Indian parliamentary elections in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian troops have intensified their search operations across the Udhampur, Kathua, Doda, Poonch, and Rajouri districts, causing significant distress among the local populations. Residents report that the operations include forced entries into homes, intimidation of families, and destruction of property, contributing to a climate of fear and disruption.
The use of advanced surveillance technologies such as CCTVs and drones by the Indian army, paramilitary forces, police, and secret agencies has increased, aiming to monitor and control the movements of the local populace. In addition to the widespread CASOs, India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting its own series of raids and crackdowns, particularly targeting individuals in Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara districts.
Dozens of arrests have been made during these operations, with many detainees reported to be associated with the region’s pro-freedom movements. The ongoing military and security activities have been described by locals as oppressive, with forces allegedly terrorizing residents and causing extensive damage to personal property.
