Militants in Manipur attack Assam Rifles troops on patrol

Imphal, Armed insurgent groups attacked a convoy of Assam Rifles troops, using Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), in the Saibol area of riot-hit Manipur’s Tengnoupal district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the troops of the Assam Rifles were conducting a regular patrol at the site when the attack took place. However, no Assam Rifles personnel were injured in the attack even as the armed insurgents fired a few rounds of bullets after the blast.

Assam Rifles officer, 20 soldiers were moving from the Assam Rifle’s operating base in Saibol as a part of regular patrolling.

The militants had planted a low-intensity IED. They then used small firearms and fired at the Assam Rifles vehicles.
