Middle Eastern Nations Applaud Steps Toward Gaza Ceasefire

Amman: The Foreign Ministers of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt have collectively welcomed the steps taken by Hamas in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza. The proposal includes the release of hostages and the initiation of negotiations on implementation mechanisms.

The ministers also expressed support for President Trump’s call for Israel to halt bombing and begin implementing an exchange agreement. They acknowledged these developments as a significant opportunity to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire and address the pressing humanitarian situation in Gaza.

In a further step toward peace, Hamas announced its readiness to transfer Gaza’s administration to a transitional Palestinian Administrative Committee composed of independent technocrats. The ministers stressed the urgency of starting negotiations to finalize the implementation mechanisms of this proposal.

Reaffirming their commitment, the Foreign Ministers pledged to support efforts to end the war on Gaza and facilitate a comprehensive agreement. Key elements of the proposal include ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, preventing the displacement of Palestinians, and ensuring civilian security. The plan also calls for the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza, unification with the West Bank, and the establishment of a security mechanism to ensure the safety of all parties.

The joint statement emphasizes the need for a just peace based on a two-state solution, alongside the full withdrawal of Israeli forces and the reconstruction of Gaza.
