METRO AG Germany Delegation Discusses Economic Opportunities with Pakistan’s Finance Minister


Islamabad: A delegation from METRO AG Germany met with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, to discuss ongoing macroeconomic reforms and investment opportunities in the country. Led by Executive Vice President Atila Yenisen, the delegation included Germany’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alfred Graannas, and senior officials from the Finance Division and the Federal Board of Revenue.



According to Press Information Department, the finance minister welcomed the delegation and detailed the impact of recent economic reforms. He highlighted the reduction in inflation and interest rates, contributing to a rise in business activity. The minister also noted improvements in the country’s foreign exchange reserves, which have increased from two weeks to two and a half months of import cover, fostering a stable exchange rate and facilitating profit repatriation for foreign investors.



Mr. Yenisen outlined METRO AG’s business operations in Pakistan, including 10 stores across five cities, employing over 2,000 local staff and serving nearly 10,000 clients. He emphasized the group’s role in economic documentation and boosting exports, such as importing over €10 million worth of Pakistani textiles and other products annually for international markets.
