Islamabad: Meta, The technology giant, hosted a workshop on Digital Transformation at the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, aimed at enhancing the digital media strategies of various Pakistani government ministries and departments. The event was attended by high-profile officials including the Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, along with other key figures from the IT sector.
According to Press Information Department, the workshop sought to educate social media and public relations representatives from multiple ministries on enhancing their engagement with the Pakistani populace through Meta’s platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. The session covered critical areas such as Community Standards, which encompass bullying and harassment, hate speech, and misinformation, as well as the safety tools, products, and resources available through Meta. The event saw participation from various government bodies like the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), National Information Technology Board (NITB), and others. The Meta team, led by Dr. Priyanka Bhalla, Head of Safety Policy, and Dania Mukhtar, Lead Public Policy, provided insights and fielded questions during a comprehensive Q and A session that concluded the workshop.
