Srinagar, February 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, expressed deep regret that due to the continued house detention of its President Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Meraj-un-Nabi (SAW) has not been observed for the last four years either at Jamia Masjid or Aali Masjid, Eidgah, Srinagar.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Anjuman Auqaf in a statement issued in Srinagar said that in the absence of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, it is not possible for the Auqaf management to organise this important religious function. It said the Auqaf’s social reformative work, carried under the leadership of Mirwaiz, has also greatly suffered due to his arbitrary detention. Despite repeated appeals to the authorities for his release from illegal house detention, he is not being released.
Muslims of the valley are deeply dismayed as they are being deprived of the invaluable sermons of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and his other religious and socio reformative guidance.
Greeting the people on the occasion of Meraj-un-Nabi (SAW), Anjuman Auqaf said Prophet Muhammad (SAW’s) ascension to the heavens is a practical miracle of the Messenger of Allah (SAW), which is celebrated as a memorial and inspires new areas of thought till the Day of Resurrection.
The Anjuman once again urged the authorities to ensure the release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq before the upcoming month of Shaba’an so that he resumes his traditional responsibilities, like his predecessors – the Mirwaizeen-e-Kashmir.
